Qiana and Chris found us online in January. Qiana was feverishly putting together their wedding for February 23rd at “21” and she wanted live music for her reception. She loved the online clips of Nite-Time in action, but her guest list was not too long, so she wanted a bit smaller band to compliment the event, which was a luncheon. We downsized to a four piece ensemble featuring guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Qiana and Chris still got three singers, a wide variety of musical genres (from Ray Charles to Billy Idol) and the music fit seamlessly into Qiana’s vision of the day.

For their first dance, Qiana and Chris chose the timeless ballad At Last, which I always love performing. We then went right into a dance set that got everyone up on the floor until it was time for the first course to be served. The 21 Club put together a delicious three course lunch. Trust me, they’ve still got it after 83 years at 21 W52nd St. If you’re into history, definitely check out their story here: http://www.21club.com/web/onyc/timeline.jsp

The classic wrought iron gate that guards the entrance to "21" was actually moved there from the club's original location at 42 W49th St.

It wasn’t all about the food though. Qiana, Chris and their guests were a dancing crowd! They really shook the floor of that gorgeous old Victorian. There was even a breakdance-off moment between Chris and his sister – who was one of the bridesmaids…

As for parent dances, Qiana chose to dance to What a Wonderful with her dad and Chris danced with his mother to In My Life by the Beatles. One of my favorite music moments of the day however was during the introductions of the bridal party. Qiana wanted to us to play White Wedding by Billy Idol, it was great! A little humor infused into the day is always fun.

Here are some more cool pics from Qiana and Chris’s wedding courtesy of Guy Chan Photography. Guy did a great job, these are just a few of the awesome shots I’ve seen from that day. Check out his site for more info…

And here’s another one of my pics… Remember, I’m a musician, not a photographer 🙂 I just love that the bridesmaids were wearing what seemed to me to be “Tiffany” blue – another NYC classic. I actually never got a chance to ask Qiana if that’s what she was going for, but somehow I think it was.

I just thought it was sweet the way they're all gathered around her...

Special thanks to Guy Chan for sharing his great photos and to the 21 Club for putting us on their recommended list. See you in May…
