Paula and Bryan are an adorable couple with a great group of friends that like to dance! We love that. Their wedding was at the beautiful and historic Tappan Hill Mansion which is at the former estate of Mark Twain. It was a great night to get out and shake off the winter blues and celebrate the marriage of two people whose families carry a time honored tradition of military service.

Bryan himself is a First Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and Paula’s grandfather served in the Ejercito Nacional de Uruguay. At the side of the reception room, a table was set for those who “have given the ultimate sacrifice, missing in action, or prisoners of war, it (the table) is reserved as a place of honor for those who answered the call to serve their country with pride and dedication but who are unable to be with us today.” It was a lovely way to honor not only the members of their families who had served including Bryan’s Grandfather Lieutenant Gerald P. Rooney and Paula’s Grandfather Coronel Jose Maria Albuquerque, but all those who have given so much for so many.

Paula and Bryan made a grand entrance with the help of several of Bryan’s military brothers. The officers formed an archway of swords and required the couple to kiss before being able to pass each checkpoint. It was really very sweet!

After their entrance, Paula and Bryan got right out on the floor for their first dance, the classic Frank Sinatra tune The Way You Look Tonight. Then Paula took a hold of her dad for their dance to The Beatles’ In My Life followed by Bryan’s dance with his mom to her surprise pick, Child of Mine by Carole King, a beautiful song that we hadn’t done before. It definitely made the list of parent dances now!

Once the special dances were completed, the dance floor was open! The guests were a fun crowd and the dance floor was packed all night, but we’re used to that, we’re Nite-Time! During courses of the amazing dinner by Abigail Kirsch several speeches were made including a hilarious rap (yes rap – complete with beatbox backup) by Bryan’s three sisters. Too cute!

Later on in the evening, Bryan (who used to have a band himself) sat in and did an awesome job singing one of his favorite Billy Joel songs with us. We LOVE when members of the party sit in, it’s so fun for us and for their friends and family. Rock on Bryan!

The evening was a success for all and we’ve already gotten great feedback from Bryan and his dad Bob…

Yves –

Just wanted to say thank you to you and the band for an outstanding evening Sunday. A few people commented how they had never been to a wedding with so many people dancing!

Best, Bob

Hello Yves,

Thank you for such wonderful words, and such incredible music!  It was a great party because you made it so!  I’ve had countless people tell me how much fun the music was and others say they haven’t seen so many people dancing at a wedding.  Such an amazing time, the craziness still hasn’t quite yet subsided.

And you can bet Paula and I will be sitting down to write a glorious review for Nite-Time on wedding wire (we’ll be sitting down to do all those items this weekend) or anywhere else it comes up.  We had such a blast and could not be happier with everything.

All my best,
Bryan

All our best to Paula and Bryan and hopefully we’ll party with you all again soon!

Thanks again for having Nite-Time be a part of your day!

Eissa and Nick at Gary’s Loft

Date: September 8th

Location: Gary’s Loft, W36th St., NYC

First Dance: Little Trip to Heaven by Tom Waits

Eissa and Nick came to see us at one of our shows at the Underground Lounge back in April and decided to hire Nite-Time for their cool loft wedding in NYC. They’re both huge fans of classic rock and wanted an emphasis on that for their reception. Nick loves Billy Joel, so we played hits like You’re My Home, New York State of Mind and You May Be Right by request. Eissa is also a jazz lover, so we also covered a wide range of jazz standards early in the evening while people were still mingling.

Gary’s Loft set the stage perfectly. The reception started while it was still light outside and sun filled the room through two huge skylights. The mostly white interior of the loft had a heavenly glow about it, and as the sun went down, candle light filled the room to create just the right mood.

The bar was set up in front of what looked like an old shower to keep the loft apartment feel going.

For the ceremony and the first half of the cocktail hour Eissa and Nick opted for a string quartet, they did an amazing job playing both classical selections and some more modern standards.

Abigail Kirsch served delicious passed appetizers like lobster BLTs for cocktails with panache and created a wonderful dinner comprised of small plates like braised short rib and asian noodles served in little take out containers. Eissa and Nick wanted a more laid-back cocktail party atmosphere for their reception which turned out to be both sophisticated and fun. There were plenty of seating options, so people could eat or lounge or dance at their leisure.

We played dance music throughout the night  so that people would always have the option to get up on the floor. When it came time for us to stop, Nick asked us to keep playing so that everyone could keep on dancing for a little while longer. Even Nick’s grandma got in on the dancing!

Eissa and Nick truly achieved their goal of a chic and sophisticated yet laid-back NYC wedding. Here are some more pics…
