Spring Has Sprung!

Happy Spring Everyone,

When we last checked in with you all, we were getting set to rock Valentine’s Day at Seasons at Windham Mountain, and that we did. It was one of the best (if not coldest) ski weekends of the season and the folks at Seasons were up and dancing with us to help warm up after a chilly afternoon on the slopes! Our favorite newly-engaged guitar-god, JT Curtis filled in for Danny and rocked the house while showing his beautiful fiancé the love! Hey JT, we know an awesome band for your wedding 😉

IMG_8943

That was quite a move, and he still nailed the solo!

We kicked off the year on January 16th when we hit the road to play for Natasha and Brian’s Wedding in Washington DC at The Capitol View at 400. We first met Natasha a few years back when we played for her mom’s 50th bash in Maryland. We all had so much fun with these folks, we were super psyched to rock out with them again in our nation’s capital. Natasha is an amazing professional dancer and aerialist and really showed off her skills during the couple’s first dance, You’re The Cream in My Coffee.

It was an awesome way to kick off 2016!

On New Year’s Eve we got a chance to party with our friends at The Wolfert’s Roost Country Club in Albany, NY – wow, we really get around! Amy, kicked off the festivities that night by flexing her solo acoustic guitar and vocal muscles during the cocktail hour before she joined the full band for dancing in the ball room!

Happy New Year!

In March we all took some time off before donning our masks for this year’s annual GCCA Beaux Arts Ball on April 2nd,which honored our friend and colleague Frank Cuthbert for his contributions to supporting local art and artists. Frank is a wonderfully talented composer and performer. We had the privilege of performing a piece from Frank’s musical Coney Island entitled Great Kissers in New York, and later in the evening we surprised Frank and called him up on stage to sing one of our favorites of his songs, Nervous. We have such a great time at this event each year and this year was no exception. We feel honored to contribute to this very worthy cause in our small way and truly respect the people who work tirelessly to make sure that the arts are supported in our community. Thank you to Kay Stamer and David and Jean Slutsky for allowing us to be a part of this event year after year and to Frank for rocking with us!

On April 4th, Yves and the guys provided a jazz trio for the Stanley M. Isaacs Center Gala at The Racquet and Tennis Club on Park Avenue in NYC. Yves delighted the crowd with his cocktail-hour crooning while Bennett tickled the ivories for the guests as they mingled and perused the silent auction items before heading into the main ballroom for dinner and a live auction to benefit the center.

Gala-goers anxiously await the live auction portion of the evening.

Finally, you’ll be able to find all of our services in one place, from acoustic acts to full bands to DJs to musical ceremony services (complete with officiant). We are so excited about our expansion and look forward to making all of your entertainment wishes come true!

Summer Recap Time!!

Well, the holidays are fast approaching and so we figured this would be a good time for a recap of this summer’s parties and happenings. We’ve been so busy this year we’ve barely had time to stay in touch with you all, but if you’ve been following us on Instagram you’re ahead of the game. Here are some of our favorite pics from the grooviest parties of the summer (yes, we’re bringing back groovy – pass it on).

Thanks so much to all of our wonderful clients, those featured here and all the rest, for an amazing season! We can’t believe how fast it went by, but now we’re heading right into Holiday Party season, so stay tuned…

Hey everyone!

I know it’s been a while since we last posted, but we have had a crazy busy couple of months. We rocked some pretty awesome events in May and June in addition to starting the planning process with Nite-Time’s Class of 2016. We figured you all might want to see what we’ve been up to, so here are some photo highlights of our spring season…

We were honored to return (for the eighth year) to perform for the amazing folks at the Princeton Child Development Institute. They do such wonderful work with children and adults living with autism and they do a terrific job organizing this event each year.

This marked the third year in a row that the good people at the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center asked us to perform for their Spring Gala and one of the few times of the year that Amy and Bennett get to perform as a duo before the full band gets rockin’. Always fun!

Of course, no spring would be complete without our Columbia College Reunion Weekend revelers jamming to tunes from every decade on the plaza outside the iconic Low Library in the heart of NYC! We probably say this every year, but this year seemed to bring out more alumni than ever before.

Amy and Yves got to rock it duo style at the Wolfert’s Roost CC’s Belmont Stakes party on June 6th. We’re not saying the acoustic good vibes we sent out had anything to do with American Pharoah’s historic triple crown win, but you never know 😉

Just three days before the end of spring on June 18th, wedding season kicked in for us again with Bianca and Lyncean’s NYC nuptials. These two ER docs are so busy they had to schedule their wedding for a Thursday night. It’s all good, we’ll rock a party any day of the week. More to come on that one…

Heather and Derek know how to party!

Heather and Derek are self proclaimed geeks. They’re huge fans of Harry Potter, Star Wars and superheroes in general. The hashtag for posts and pics from their wedding was #425nerdynuptials and they filled the Mansion at Round Hill with personal touches. There was something that reflected their style and their sense of fun and adventure everywhere you looked, from the Star Wars style story board of their relationship history…

425nerdynuptials4

to the action figures that I can only guess were collected with love and care throughout the years.

425nerdynuptials5

425nerdynuptials6

That being said, they definitely know how to party! Check out this link to their photo booth pics by Mariana Feely, see if you  recognize anyone 😉

Heather and Derek crossed all of the modern top 40 dance music off of our song list in favor of classic rock, ’80s, ’90s and current rock. The highlights of their request list included 99 Red Balloons by Nena, Enter Sandman by Metallica (the one heavy metal song that Heather let Derek request) and You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon.

For their first dance the couple chose Slide by Goo Goo Dolls and it really got the reception started. No one could resist joining them on the dance floor and we just knew we were in for a fun night from the start.

A sweet moment for Heather and Derek just before all the guests hit the floor!

A sweet moment for Heather and Derek just before all the guests hit the floor!

We followed up the first dance with a round of horas to wish the couple good luck in their life together. For the parent dances Heather chose My Wish to dance with her dad (that song still gets me a little choked up each time) and Derek and his mom chose You Can’t Always Get What You Want by The Rolling Stones. I never asked what the significance of that tune was for them, but it was awesome! Best parent dance ever. Everyone got into it and joined them on the dance floor for a tribute and well timed sing along.

425nerdynuptials2

For the last dance of the night we played Kiss Me, I’m Sh**tfaced by The Dropkick Murphys, a song Heather and Derek specifically requested for “later in the night”. We had to put the kids to bed for that one, but it was clearly a favorite of the couple and their friends. Every word was sung along with the band and it really was a great capper to the night!

425nerdynuptials12

Heather and Derek truly enjoyed every moment of their wedding day, I would guess this fun-loving couple finds joy in just about everything they do together. We had an awesome time rocking out with this unique couple and their amazing friends and family.

Here are some more fun details from Heather and Derek’s “Nerdy Nuptials”…

Last Dance: Ho Hey by The Lumineers

CassieandMike1

Cassie and Mike are simply adorable. They chose the beautiful, historic Bourne Mansion on Long Island for their wedding. A great spot by the water that was the perfect backdrop for the day. Their request list was varied and a lot of fun for us, a few new tunes got added to the song list that night!

Cassie and Mike had a friend perform the ceremony for them, which is just such a wonderful and personal touch. Their ceremony was both touching and humorous. Nothing beats having someone who really knows you as a couple perform your ceremony for you, except maybe having our guy Danny lay down the sweet sweet solo guitar jams. For Cassie and Mike there was Crazy Love by Van Morrison, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole and When I Paint My Masterpiece by Bob Dylan.

CassiandMike2

Cocktails and appetizers were accompanied by solo guitar in the solarium and featured two signature cocktails representing the bride and groom’s hometowns. Cassie and Mike had the most adorable beer koozies made to commemorate the night as well.

CassieandMike3

CassieandMike4

As the party moved into the reception room Nite-Time introduced the bridal party into the room to Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars. We love that tune! For the first dance, Cassie and Mike chose Someone Like You, a classic by Van Morrison with a hint of I Wanna Grow Old With You from The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler. Everyone got up on the floor to celebrate the bride and groom and they kept it rockin’ all night. Cassie danced with her dad to Lullaby by Billy Joel which always gets everyone teared up. Then we took it right into The Belle of Belfast City, a traditional Irish song, that gave Cassie’s sisters a chance to dance to a family favorite. Mike and his mom chose What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, another great classic!

Cassie and Mike like a wide variety of music, some of the highlights of their request list include: Treasure by Bruno Mars, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, Rosalita (always a favorite of Nite-Time) by Bruce Springsteen, Galway Girl by Steve Earle and Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon. We ended the night with the new classic Ho Hey by the Lumineers it’s becoming a party anthem in it’s own right and it’s a great way to cap off a wonderful evening.

We had such fun planning with and playing for Cassie and Mike. Here are some cool pics we snapped at their wedding…

We played for Tina’s brother Frank’s wedding a few years back and when she started planning for her own special day with her fiancé Jeremy she jumped on the phone to make sure we were available for the date. I’m so glad we were! We had a great time with everyone at Frank’s wedding, and we were excited to rock it out again with the whole clan.

Tina and Jeremy chose the Wainwright House for it’s beautiful waterside location. The ceremony was planned for outside, and the couple chose some really beautiful songs for it like A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and This Is the First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes. We had a trio of piano, guitar and voice all set to play by the water. Then the rain came! No worries, a little shuffling and we were all safe and dry inside the Wainwright House’s tented reception area. The ceremony was beautiful and went off without a hitch. For their cocktail hour, Tina and Jeremy chose to have our pianist play at the acoustic piano in the parlor of the main house. The guests had passed apps and drinks inside before making their way out to the tent again to get the reception pumping!

Tina and Jeremy kicked things off with their first dance, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, a great song that we love to do. By this time the rain had subsided and guests were able to mingle inside and outside of the tent, but we were there, so mostly – there was dancing.

Carpenteri2

Carpenteri3

Tina’s stepdad, Ed got up to sing with the band and rocked! He stayed up and helped us out on backgrounds for a while and we all had a great time with it. It was while Ed was on stage that I saw a figure flash by the outside of the tent. It almost didn’t register, until I saw it again. It was a man, a NAKED MAN!! Awesome! Tina and Jeremy had their very own wedding streaker!! That was a first for me, but Ed told me that this particular streaker had a history of nude jogging that dates back to his college days. Ha! Too fun.

Tina’s family owns Garden Catering in Connecticut, they’re famous for their chicken nuggets which made a perfect end of the night party favor for all of their guests (and me). Those are some seriously delicious nuggets and they definitely hit the spot on the ride home 😉

Carpenteri4

Tina and Jeremy chose a lot of great music for their reception, but there were three tunes that had to be played for sure. We played them at Frank and Kate’s wedding and it’s a family tradition to end the night with what we call the Animal House trilogy. We start with Twistin’ the Night Away and take it into Shama Lama Ding Dong. Then we finish it off with a healthy dose of Shout! Good times.

This was a fun bunch that didn’t let the weather get them down and it was great to see Frank again and his wife Kate and their three adorable kids. A fun and beautiful family, hope to see you all again soon!

Happy 2015 Everyone!!

We are coming out of hibernation and swinging into full planning mode for the upcoming season we can’t wait to party with you all!

Meanwhile, Yves and I have been playing as a duo up in Windham, NY quite a bit and we’re having a great time doing it. Skiers are fun folks!!

We also want to thank our awesome couple Kristen and Sean who got hitched back in August for sending along some great pics of the band from their wedding and give a shout out to their wonderful photographer Amy Rizzuto. Thanks for sharing these with us.

We at Nite-Time were honored to be asked to entertain NYC’s top chefs, restauranteurs, sommeliers and mixologists for the second year in a row at this year’s annual Michelin Guide Star Gala! This year marked the 10th anniversary of the guide’s first New York issue and the celebration was off the hook.

Of course, the food was amazing. We got to taste dishes from amazing chefs like Jean-Georges Vongerichten, James Kent, Bill Telepan and Brad Steelman, just to name a few.

michelin15 menu

The evening started with a tasting event sponsored by Laurent Perrier and several cocktail demonstrations by some of NYC’s top mixologists. There were passed appetizers provided by Guastavino’s as well as a gorgeous antipasto table. We provided a duo of saxophone and piano to play some lighter selections for this portion of the evening.

After the speeches and the awards all six of us got up on the stage and, of course, ramped up the music to get people dancing and working off the incredibly delicious calories!

Best Reunion Highlight: 30th Anniversary Ghostbuster in Full Costume, Sweet!

I know, I know we say it every year, but really, this year was off the hook at Columbia! We’ve just had the best time playing for the alumni over the years. This year was a celebration of class years ending in four and nine, which made it the 30th anniversary of arguably the best movie ever shot on campus, Ghostbusters (I’m not sure what other movies have been shot on campus though).

We got some great pics sent to us from Scott Rudd, an amazing photographer and musician who was on the scene to capture the event. We just thought we’d share them with all of you…

Happy New Year Everyone!

I know, it’s a tad late, but we were so busy last year, we thought we’d take a couple of weeks to kick back. We haven’t gotten much of a chance, because planning for this year’s events and weddings is already in full swing. We’re looking forward to partying with old friends and making new ones on the dance floor in 2014!

This year’s resolution is to keep you all more updated on what we’re doing, songs we’re adding to our already massive repertoire and to showcase some of the awesome clients, brides and grooms we’ll be working with this year.

But first, let’s take a minute to look back at some of the highlights from last year in photo form, shall we?
